Oslo Coalition Projects, 2009

Below is a summary of the Oslo Coalitions programm for 2009, arranged according to chapters in the Oslo Coalition Action Plan for 2009. Please use the menu on the left to find out more about each area of work.

New Directions in Islamic Thought and Practice

  • 2.1 ”Ethical Guidelines for Islamic family Law", 3rd in a series of 3 workshops, in Kuala Lumpur, in October
  • 2.2 Preparation for publication of the book ”Guidelines for Islamic Family Law”, and a document summarising the finds for the use of NGOs.
Indonesia
  • 3.1: “Bridge Building Action: Joining forces across religions” - support for 3 interlinked programmes, to be carried out by CRCS/ICRS at Gada Madha University, Interfidei and Percik, each following their own methodology and network
China
  • 4.1 launching of book “Freedom of Religion in China: Norwegian Experiences from the Human Rights Dialogue” at a 2 day conference
  • 4.2 World Buddhist Forum
Central Asia
  • 5.1: Introduction to HR/FORB training, Kazakhstan, invitation to NCHR course for 2 lecturers from the Faculty of Law, Almaty University
  • 5.2: Participation in research/strategy-creating programme together with Helsinki Committee, Oslo Centre for Peace and Human Rights, Forum 18 and Mission to the East
  • 5.3: Workshop: Freedom of Religion in the Ferghana Valley, Osh, Kirgizstan, organised by Foundation for Tolerance International
Caucasus
  • 6.1 Round table conference for religious leaders in Georgia with the theme religion, ethics and human rights, Tblisi, October
Missionary Activities and Human Rights
  • 7.1 International Editing Committee meeting to finalise the document: “Codes of Conduct for Missionary Activities”
Facilitating Freedom of Religion and Belief
  • 8.1: Launching of Indonesian edition of the Oslo Coalition Deskbook
  • 8.2: Developing the range of FORB courses in India in partnership with the Indonesian Legal Aid Foundation (YLBHI). Training for training courses for young lawyers from YLBHI's 14 regional offices.
  • 8.3: Other language editions of the Oslo Coalition Deskbook
Teaching for Tolerance
  • 9.1 Dissemination of publications produced by the Teaching for Tolerance group
  • 9.2 Continued development of the Website on T4T
  • 9.3 Workshops in Skills for the Practice of Tolerance
