Workshop in Istanbul, 10-12 November 2005:

Learning about the Other
and Teaching for Tolerance
in Muslim Majority Societies

 
 

 

From 10-12 November2005, the Oslo Coalition on Freedom of Religion or Belief in cooperation with the Centre for Values Education (Istanbul ) held a workshop in Istanbul on “Learning about the Other and Teaching for Tolerance in Muslim Majority Societies”. The workshop was part of the Oslo Coalition project "Teaching for tolerance" and brought together approximately 25 experts from Bosnia, Egypt, Germany, Indonesia, Iran, Lebanon, Morocco, Nigeria, Norway, Palestine, Switzerland and Turkey.

In May 2007, the Centre for Valures Education together with the Oslo Coalition published a book with papers from the conference, under the title Teaching for Tolerance in Muslim Majority Societies (eds. Recep Kaymakcan and Oddbjørn Leirvik, see list of contents and preface). The book may be ordered from the Oslo Coalition.
